beautiful P88! You are quite fortunate to add this one to your collection.

Say what you want about the P88, but that is one handsomely striking pistol. Nice job again, Tanfo. Thanks for taking the time to post.

Note that this pistol has an early trigger bar. It was soon suggested to Walther that the outer plate of the trigger bar could be extended forward to cover some of the mouse-holes in and around the takedown lever shaft on the right side. This was eventually done.

Earlier yet, s/n 881299, with no mouse-holes.

So Walther change the trigger bar from small to bigger
then they change the holes and back to small trigger bar

Tanfo: I believe your V1403 came after the 881-series (XM9 pistols). The first suggestion (from Interarms) was to enlarge the trigger bar in order to fill in the ugly gap between the top of the bar and the bottom of the slide. That was done, but in the meantime Walther also started making the "mouse holes". Then another suggestion was made to extend the trigger bar to cover the holes.

Walther changed many other things in a short time also, within less than 10,000 guns. They were too much in a hurry, and never did finalize the design.
