Question P.88 MFG. Codes for Years?

The P.88 which I hope to be getting one soon, was made if I am correct, from 1988 to 1992? What would be the different Codes for the Year of MFG. that would be Stamped on the Right side of the Slide I think? thanks Paul in Hobe Sound, Fla.

Hope you do find the P88 you are looking for. I am sure it will be well worth the time, effort, and cost.
It took me four years to get mine. It is my favorite Walther and is stamped IK on the right side of the frame.
(I also have a favorite Luger and a favorite Mauser)

I wish it were still being made but I guess it was too expensive to produce so it was too expensive to be adopted by any major police or military outfits. Walther didn't even really perfect it before switching to the P88 Compact as I understand. Even so, I love the look, feel, and performance. Since I got it over a year ago I take it on every trip to the range.

Hi,

my P88 is S/N 001024, this would make it the 24th off the production line, it has no code stamped on the right side of the frame (unless it's under the grip?).

Being the 24th to be produced I guess it was made in 1988, I really like fireing it at the cabin and the range.

cheers,

-John

Actually, the 23rd off the line, as serial #s on the P88s started with 1001.
