hello friends,
I don’t know why would a genuine, german or swiss made SIG pistol, suffer from quality control issues or unsafe design. Heck, from the classic P210 to the next generation of P220, SIG-Sauer pistol have been nothing short of legendary -they’re my second favorite, the CZ-75 is my no.1-. thanks |

Since somebody else already posted again to this slightly older thread, I'll chime in too.
The specs on that A3 ammo translate into a 91gr bullet doing 1312 fps 15 yards from the muzzle. I don't know what length test barrel was used to measure that. The norm for 9mm in the US would be 4" (101.6mm). As noted, that's fast for 9mm - but it is also a light bullet for 9mm (at least on the US market). More the norm for .380 (9mm Kurz). Factory specs on so-called "Law Enforcement Only" 115gr +P+ ammo runs in the 1300-1320 fps range. Cor-Bon markets a 90g +P load with a factory spec of 1500 fps. So, A3 might actually not even be +P, probably not +P+. |

My recently acquired former BMI issue P5 has the hole in the top of the slide, indicating a modified drop safety, too. |

Hey Guys,
I managed to find another Dutch P5. This pistol is dated 1981 and also has the modified safety. These are very hard to find, even in the Netherlands. I wouldn't be surprised if the collectors status of these will be similar to the Norwegian P38. Try to find them while they are still under appreciated ![]()

Nice pistol (again), Dennis; thanks for sharing it here. Haven't seen any of them show up on this side of the pond. Did you replace the original grips with the Hogues, or did the pistol come that way when you acquired it? It seems that the police-issued P5s spent a lot of time in and out of holsters, which not only affected the blue on the slides but also the condition of the plastic grips.

As far as I know all Dutch P5 police pistol have the Hogues grips fitted (cfr. the Dutch Police logo on the grips instead of Hogues'). Those grips were manufactured by Hogues at the specific request of the Dutch government (law enforcement).

Hi Searcher,
ET is totally correct; these hoque grips were especially made for the Dutch police. They don't seem to suffer too much from carying in a holster, however the finish does. I research the history of the gun above and it showed that the gun was delivered on April 10th 1981 to the local police of the Dutch city of Vught. It was part of a total of 15 guns delivered. The black box still has a lable with all data and police number of the officer that I bought the gun from. Both Police guns that I have (1981 and 1983) have upgraded parts that are usually only found on guns that were manufactured after 1984. Apparently, some parts were upgraded because problems were experienced? E.T.; Did you move to Belgium ?? |

Sorry ET for confusing you for a Dutch person....
![]() You knowledge about the Dutch P5 somehow made me assume that you were Dutch. |

Interesting information on the Hogue grips for the P5, guys; thanks for the details. That most likely explains why you can buy that grip on the Hogue website; it's one of the few, if not the only, aftermarket rubber grips that you can find for the P5 these days.
