Please bear with me.

After nearly fifteen years of using the Walther P22, here is my verdict:

The P22 likes RWS, SK (Wolf), Geco and other German-made ammo ONLY.

It dislikes Czech Sellier & Bellot and U.S.-made .22 LR fodder.

It tolerates Finn-made ammo like LAPUA and UK-made ammo like ELEY, as well as Italian Fiocchi, but not by much.

The best brand of ammo for the P22 is Made in Germany. Period.

Let the flames burn me to the ground.

There are many reasons for this but they are a bit elaborate and somewhat boring to lay out. The bottom line as far as the P22 is concerned is: use the german stuff and you will be a happy camper (most of the time, that is)

Oh yeah....I was told the captive spring will not fit the existing P22s. I'm thinking the picture used for the advertisement of the new pistol is of a recent Q model as the take down lever is exactly the same as always. Not that the internal components couldn't be different. I'm surprised it is different but have yet to see one.

Ft. Smith does not have anything on this new set up yet....no parts, no pistols. I'm still wondering exactly what they changed to add the decocker. And again with these changes...where is the aluminum slide, a corrected hammer tip angle and proper trigger bar ears? 1917

Walther P22 likes = gets on well socially with same creed ammo that feeds well in expensive restaurants, extracts spent cases out and away from the shooter's eye with hardly any smoking. They hit it so well that they all meet on or near the X-Ring at 25 metres offhand, with minimal effort from the nut behind the non-adjustable trigger and rubbish rear sight, while the slide tries to break away and split.
