Which P22 Should I buy???

The distributor my FFL dealer works with has offered 2 models of P22's for him to order for me. One is a P22 model with no internal lock its being closed out (WAN22007). The other model of the P22 is the updated one (QAP22003). I probably would not understand the tech difference but which one would make a better plinker & to carry at my farm.. Thks John

The one that says Ruger SR22 on it. M1911

Oh yeah, the Q model has some additional details on the slide, looks only.

and the grips are different, more comfortable, and some of the older ones have the manual trigger lock which can break if you try to operate the slide while in the locked position and requires you to send it in for repair

For "farm" use, I'd consider a .22 revolver instead, as you could throw literally any ammo through it, such as subsonics, shotshells, etc...

The P22 is fun to shoot, but has difficulties cycling certain ammunitions you may want to use at the farm.

My 2-cents...

I'd like a few months of test results from more than a few solid range visits from more than a few shooters before I'll be tempted to run out and snap up one of the new Rugers. These folks have had teething problems in the past with designs that have been lifted from other gun manufacturers.

True, but they've always rectified the problem quickly and rewarded early buyers with fixed guns, free magazines, etc. Ruger really cares about their name and reputation. Walther apparently does not.

BTW, 1917-1911M's response was hilarious: "The one that says Ruger SR22 on it. M1911"
