Okay - 2 weeks ago my mom tells me to come check out a few green metal boxes that have been in her closet for decades (not exaggerating here)....so I head over and there are two ammo boxes that were to heavy for her to move, so I lift them out and open them up. Lots of 45 ammo in unopened boxes.......and 500 rounds of Western Super-X in an opened "brick" of ten 50 round boxes.
Yep you guessed it, I loaded that old Western stuff in my P22 mags and went and had some fun. My P22 ate up 5 boxes of these "ancient" bullets without issue! The only thing is that it did leave some lead in my barrel that I had to clean out. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have any feed issues or fire issues!!! On the Western box it says that the bullets are "40 gr. lubaloy coated with a special dry wax lubricant" I guess I'm one of the lucky ones in that my P22 has not any had any issues with ammo. Doesn't matter if it is Remington, Federal, CCI, Winchester....and now Western Super-X! |

300 rds and not even a failure to fire. Feed,Cycles,Shoots,Ejects No Problen GI. Though it is expensive. Sportsman's Guide but is now on back order. 5000 Rds for $288. CCI Mini Mags also on backorder. |

There really isn't a magic insider-only website for ammo, those of us who have been through these panicky times before just have a supply on hand.

At the risk of sounding like a complete moron, can someone please explain the difference between +P and +P+ is it a high velocity and a hyper-velocity? If that is the case why is a high or hyper velocity recommended by so many gunsmiths etc. for a P-22 when the owners manual clearly states "Plus P ammunition generates pressures in excess of the pressure associated with standard ammunition. Such pressures may affect the wear characteristics or exceed the margin of safety, Use of (+P) ammunition may require more frequent service."
"Plus-P-Plus (+P+) ammunition is not recommended for use in Walther firearms. This marking on the ammunition designates that it exceeds established industry standards, but the designation does not represent defined pressure limits and therefore such ammunition may vary significantly as to pressures generated and can be DANGEROUS"(directly quoted from manual)? Please bear with me on this, as, until about a month ago I haven't even held a firearm let alone use one. I have scoured the internet and I'm no closer to an answer on the issue than when I started. Thanks in advance... |
