Mine runs lead without an issue, so long as it is 40gn and up. No leading as far as I can tell.

After several trials and lots of errors, we have found that our P22 loves CCI Mini Mag, 40 gn ~1235 fps, copper plated round nose ammo; 200 rounds and zero errors.

I too must have hit the lottery with my P22. All the ammo I have used in it including Remington sub-sonic cartridges has worked without a hitch. I have had to do nothing special to the pistol except clean it occasionally. I use both the stock 3.4" barrel and the 5 inch barrel. I had some Winchester Western .22LR that was at least 20 years old and they functioned fine (much to my surprise).

Only use CCI HP Mini-Mags in P22. I've had excellent luck with 100-round packs, but have about one FTF every 100 with the 300-round packs. Still, it's just for target.

The AR Tac wouldn't run in mine initially. I haven't gone back to it since. The mini-mags are the only thing I put in it now. Here's what I have tried.....

AE22C: Wouldn't cycle
956: Wouldn't cycle
0030's: Winner!

I love my P22Q with Laser, 200 rounds of Remington Golden Bullet flawless, 100 rounds of Winchester Power Point flawless. I can't say the same for the SR22 POS I had before. I keep it clean with a Hoppes Bore Snake, and the take down is really easy to clean the inside good.

Same exact thing happened to me!

My husband decided he was going to take my P22 out back and give it a run while I was busy. He apparently used up the last of my CCI, and recalled he had some Winchester SuperX got his 22 rifle. So he ran in and grabbed that to run through. It failed in epic fashion. Failure to feed, failure to eject, and what ended the day was one of them got STUCK in the gun because the casing split open and it jammed IN the barrel.

This exact thing happened to me and probably around the same time. I am a CCW instructor and use my P22s on my firing line. One of mine had always been finicky with ammo so I was trying different brands and when I tried Win super X they would have all kinds of malfunctions then one exploded in the chamber. It ripped the case in half. I called Win and of course they said it's not their ammo and had to be the gun. So I called Walther and one of their techs told me Winchester had started farming out their 22 production to Mexico and that is why their ammo is crap! Needless to say I was not happy when I called Win back and told them if they try again to tell me the problem is with the gun then I will conference them up with Walther and they can work out who's responsible together and quit putting me in the middle of it. Win just went ahead and sent me coupons for free ammo instead of arguing with Walther as I think they knew they couldn't win. Win 22 ammo has always given me problems in both my pistols as well as rifles. I will never use their 22 again.
