Hey, C, welcome aboard; it's nice to have you here. You've selected a couple of fine Walthers. The P99 is the real deal, as you already know ... and you are going to love the PPQ as well. You'll have to tell us about gun laws and importation requirements in Columbia. Enjoy your time on the forum.

Well thanks for the welcome Searcher.
Back about 10 years ago i decided to pick up a Pistol. Up to that point i was carrying a Llama Martial .38. When i went to the base, they had on hand a CZ 75 or The Walther P-99 AS. I quickly decided on the Walther.

The gun laws are draconian in many ways. If a businessman or other person who shows a reason why they need a gun, The Jefe de estado mayor may sign the permit. Usually just revolvers though. Pistols are normally for High Ranking Officers on the Police Force or in The Army. Recently, the last couple of years i have seen alot more cops carrying Sigs. (2022's)

I have always been treated very well and have my contacts both in Colombian Army and Policia nacional.

On importation, its normally not an option for Colombian's. But we Americans and some Colombians in the right circles get importation permission from The Colombian Army.

I used my P-99 AS in a gunfight on Sept. 10th 2011 in Jamundi, Valle del Cauca , Colombia.

Look forward to chatting more. Best Vincent Savage AKA Colombianito

Thanks for that insider information, C ... it's always interesting to see what hoops the folks from around the world have to do to own or carry a pistol, and we have many folks from many places around the world who like to visit this forum. You might well be the only member from Columbia at the moment, however.

Then it is my honor to be here. Many Colombian Officers , both in the Army and PNC ( Policia Nacional de Colombia ) have the P-99

I have been priviledged to have shot with these men on courses and during IPSC competetions as well as on the street!

Worse thing i seen happen with a P-99, is when a study placed the recoil spring in backwards during reassembly!! Yep........ it was ugly!! But we fixed it! C
