Always wanted to go there. Did you feel unsafe anywhere there? I went to Cabo in Feb and felt safe as long as we were on the main streets. The one thing that bugged me though was every guy on the street trying to sell us drugs. One of the waiters in our hotel said he left Puerto Vallarta because it wasn't very safe and he could make a lot more money in Cabo. I heard some of the cruise ships don't stop in PV anymore.

I've never felt unsafe in either Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, or San Jose del Cabo, although I understand that San Jose del Cabo has experienced some incidents the past three months which would make me recommend visiting it for now. I don't know of any cruise lines avoiding Puerto Vallarta, but no one goes to Acapulco for several years now, and some cruise lines have also pulled out of Mazatlán.

All of Mexico is on the US State Department travel warning list. That country is so rife with corruption, crime and drugs I wonder why people would want to go there.

Much of Europe is on the travel warning list, so that list doesn't really mean that much. The number of U.S. tourists who run into trouble in the tourist areas is a much more valid indicator of any real threat, and that's very low, a lot lower than in some U.S. cities.

You worry too much about the wrong things.

I was warned against going to Mexico back in the 80's when I lived in the South-Western US. Considering it came from a lady who was originally Mexican, and still had relatives there, I took heed. As far as I can tell, the situation has only changed for the worse. Nothing I need to see there. Europe's problem is not domestic but imported, namely all the immigrant refugees and imported terrorists. Not the same animal. There at least are things I would like to see in Europe, the mother of our civilization. I also still have relatives there and the roots go deep.

I swear that seagull has human legs for a tail. OK, OK....I'll admit it. Don't know where Puerto Vallarta even is. Will look it up. Must be nice to be doing all that traveling and seeing the sights. Keep it up UE, I check into your blog every once and a while to see what you've been up to and where you have been.....better go see the glaciers soon....how about Cuba? That might be an interesting place....don't know. Rum and old cars. 1917

That is a frigatebird, which reminds me of a pterodactyl every time I see one in flight. They are awesome birds.

Cuba is probably on the horizon, but I don't know when just yet.
