I upgraded both my HP laptop and an old HP Mini 110 netbook with absolutely no issues save the need for a new Realtek PCIE Card Reader driver on the netbook. Everything works great on both now.

Since most of laptops in my house (we have three) were Win8.1, I upgraded them all to Win10 this last weekend. Also, the two desktops we have underwent the same treatment for the same reason.

So far, I'm enjoying the differences. However, I would advise everybody to disable Wi-Fi Sense. Here's a quick guide I wrote up on how to do just that.

Driver issues are a pain on 10. I have to roll back the display driver every single day, because it auto-updates to a new driver, but can't complete the installation, and then my external monitor won't work.

I had to reinstall my antivirus program. I also lost my freecell game record. I had 3147 won without a lost.

Here is an update to my earlier post about the new Win10 pre-installed spyware.

Thumbs down

No Way! I will stay with Windows 7 till this Computer goes bad. It is 5 Years old now, not sure how much longer it will last. But I don't want anything to do with 10. How long will they let 7 keep going?

If you read the remarks the "cure" is worse than the ailment. That linked "fix" is itself malware. Very badly researched article.

Thought I'd give it a try on the Surface tablet. Running Win 8.1 Pro, but miss my old XP software. No libraries, shortcuts to virtual folders. Things were found where you put them. I liked that.

Not anywhere close to an IT specialist, but I'd say I'm as sharp as your average bear. Not quite as patient as it takes though. I don't have the little windows icon to upgrade. Followed the requisite instructions; ran wizards, clicked the MS knowledge base suggestions.

Aah. Run CMD as an admin, look for these updates via this cryptic string. I'm not an Apple fan, but it's clear to me why people flock to it. I'll put up with 8.1 for a bit more until I recharge my capacity for jumping through hoops.

Oops! My bad! I quickly read the article and thought it was relevant.

I have not and will not download Win10.

Primary support for Win7 ended this past January 2015. But security updates are scheduled to be available until January 2020.

Win7 Home Premium computers are no longer available but Win7 Professional computers are still available.
