That's a tough loss, my condolences.

Your uncle and my dad fought on the same battle field, at the same time.

God bless them all.

Government, in all forms, is just controlled oppression.

People should not be afraid of their government, governments should be afraid of their people. -V

In the past, anytime several thousand or more foreigners were living within a sovereign states territory without permission it was called an invasion. Now we have several million and it is called immigration.

Sadly I know very little beyond the fact that he was a combat engineer. He was a great guy but unable and unwilling to share his war experiences. He spent many years at the bottom of a bottle after the war before getting clean. At his funeral over a hundred fellow AA members came to say his mentoring was key to their sobriety.

The people of the earth owe a greater debt to those who fought in WWII then to any other army in any other conflict in all of history. This really was the mankind's head on the block war, if it was lost I fear so would have been any future for mankind.

BTW, been watching the "Band Of Brothers" marathon on HBO. Fitting that they air to today.

I have Band of Brothers on DVD. Might be an all-night session tonight!
Very well-made series.
I also have "Saving Private Ryan". I'm not all that crazy about that movie. Lots of technical errors, especially with the German vehicles and some of the procedures they show the allies doing.
