Perfect for self-defense. If your attacker doesn't burst into flames he'll be legally blind...

Sorry - much prefer this (Eagletac T20C2 MK II):

EagleTac T20C2 MKII - 770 Lumen

Had my first one for over two years now. As new LED modules come out - replace the module for like $28 or so - no need to buy a whole new flashlight. I also have another of these mounted to a carbine....

Newest module is 770 lumens at the emitter, 660 actual out the front lumens. Carry it everyday. Still works great after even 2 years (just changed the module)

I have several Eagletac lights actually. My favorite brand. They've long surpassed Surefire in lumen counts. Surefire is FINALLY just getting into the brighter generation of LEDs.

Dep, how new is this??

Pretty sure I picked one up a few months back.

*edit for photo, pictured on right

I own a few Streamlights and few Surefires, consider them to be top of the line. That said, there is a difference between Surefire and Streamlight lumen ratings and light quality.

Imagine that is the same for other brands as well (something to keep in mind SW)

I got the info on the Pro Tac light from a Blackwater newsletter. I don't really own a "tactical" flashlight. I have a 2 D cell Maglight that I upgraded the bulb on. And a few mini-Maglights that I upgraded. I probably need to buy a tactical light, since I don't like tritium sights and don't have a weapons-mounted sight. I like that flashlights can be used with ANY gun.

Any flashlight I buy will have to have a strobe option. I like that feature. I defer to Boogs and Ship as far as knowing which one is the best to get. I like that the one Ship posted has some good features. But so many choices....YIKES!
I am also dubious, as Boogs mentioned, about different power claims.

Of my, non weapon mounted, tactical flashlights

Surefire-
ED2 LED Defender
6PX Pro
E1L Outdoorsman

Streamlight-
ProTac HL
Scorpion X
ProTac 1L

I believe after my experience with these that Surefire has a better product in terms of more pure light and better lumen to lumen rating ratio, that or other companies simply overrate their lumens.

Surefire is a bit more pricey, but they serve an important purpose

There are a number of members here who have tons of Surefires and Streamlights, sure they could chime in.

Either way, the Streamlight HL is nice for the nightstand, but a little bulky for EDC

I just picked one of these Streamlights yesterday. Gotta say I'm very impressed with it, and how it turns my backyard into instant day!
I've had both products and while Surefire will take a beating and continue to work, I think Streamlights has finally "come of age" so to speak
As for EDC, I have a Bianchi 5xl light holster that carries this light very well. Dale

I love any handheld with an xm-l led. The c4's arent bad at all, but xm-l's are better emitters. Love my surefire fury.

Curious how that Surefire Fury Vdub mentioned (500 lumens), would compare to the Streamlight ProTac HL (600 lumens).. could guess but love to see them side by side.

If price is a concern, and for most it usually is, ProTac is a smart buy
