Cold Steel & handmade

I carry a COLD STEEL RECON 1 tanto. The triad lock is awesome. Also carry a mini AK-47. But my daily carry is my own handmade folder. CPM154 steel, titanium liners ,titanium spacer, carbon fiber scales, & af course a triad lock. (being friends/co-working with Andrew Demko has its perks)

Since they are LEGAL to carry in Arizona, I'm looking into automatic knives. I have a 4"Buck that was converted into an automatic. Given to me by a student in a rifle marksmanship class I taught. Very nicely done. It has a nickle push button to release the blade. You use the traditional lever to close it. Need a real auto knife. Guess I'll wait for the SHOT Show to find one.

I was raised being told 'you're naked without a knife' and 'you're not a man if you don't have a knife on you'. So I have a knife on me every single day. Lately it's been either a Emerson Commander or Emerson CQC-10

I'm a Benchmade fan. My favorite folder is the 950 Rift (plain edge)... I love the Axis lock. It hasn't seen much use lately as I've been carrying a Leatherman Charge tti in my pocket and went to a fixed blade on my belt... I EDC a Nim Cub II (previously mentioned fixed blade) and keep a full size Nimravus on a "BOB" (actually more like a "murse", Maxpedition Fatboy).

... Have several other folders around that don't see much/any use. A Zero Tolerance (too big for a pocket EDC), Griptilians... Actually, I think I may have sold the ZT now that I think about it.

I carry a Kershaw 1620, a Swiss Army "Highlander 16150" and a Garvey Box Cutter. All 3, all the time.

Black Kershaw Leek here... I love the SpeedSafeŽ system and for $50 if I really screw it up its not an issue to replace

I carry a SOG Mini XRay Vision. It's thin, fast, and razor sharp. Overall the best EDC I've owned.

Milspec,

Just curious, how difficult is it to sharpen that style blade?

I've always carried a combo/partially serrated blade, but always wondered about sharpening that style of blade (Tanto style?).

It's easy to sharpen. I use a tapered diamond needle file inside the serrations to make a burr on the other side. Then I run the blade on a hard stone to get a razor edge. If I'm lazy I'll use the tapered steel from my wife's kitchen knife set. It does a pretty good job but only fits in the large serrations.
