Purchased the HLebook to learn the disassembly of the Steyr. I just completed a total dis- and re-assembly of it. I'm impressed by the engineering and relative ease of disassembly. The gun was quite clean inside, a sign of decent maintenance. I found two items I could not have known before the auction because field stripping is not permitted: the barrel is a replacement and the extractor has some wear on it. The barrel change is disappointing but I imagine not all that unusual, and the machining tolerances are forgiving enough I don't expect any issues using it. I won't know if the extractor is an issue until I get some ammo, due here Friday. I will add the extractor to my wish list.

I'm pleased with my purchase and it is a welcome addition to my 'senior citizen' community.

Latest additions to the C&R logbook

Newest addition to the C&R logbook, arrived today delivered by a minion of a quasi-governmental organization. A Mauser HSc in 7.65mm, 945xxx (January 1945) Army proof. Came with one magazine and a very nice period-correct holster. Excellent condition internally, finish is as expected for very late wartime production.

That's a nice looking Mauser Gonzo ! The HSc is one of my favorite pistols in .32ACP. Mine has been reliable with everything that I've shot through it and extremely accurate. The accuracy surprised me considering how poor the gutter sights look. I wouldn't mind adding a postwar example in stainless.

Here's mine :
