Forum Button Images

Since yesterday afternoon, after the "system maintenance" none of the button images are showing up. When I log in and I'm looking at the forum list, there are just boxes with red X's all over the page.

I've deleted my cookies, which I had to do after the forum came back up because it wouldn't let me log in otherwise, and I've restarted my computer, so I don't know what else I can do...

You many not be along on this one, Jon. We'll try to figure out what's going on and rustle up some help. Hang tight.

Sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime.

Hi jonm61,

I'm helping out the forum with any bugs that come up after the upgrade. Let me know if you're still experiencing that problem and I'll work through it with you.
I have tried to find this problem in a number of browsers including IE 8 and IE 6 and so far I'm not seeing the broken images, so I wonder if you could try a "hard refresh". To do that, hold down the "Shift" key as you click to reload the page. You can also try clearing your browser cache.

I'm using IE8. I've cleared everything and just tried the hard reset, but no change.

One other thing that I've just noticed is different...for the past few months, the quick reply box has not been accessible for me...I couldn't click in it at all. It didn't really matter, so I never said anything. Now it's working, but again none of the buttons appear...oddly enough except for the "Post Quick Reply" and "Go Advanced" buttons on the quick reply box...those are showing, as are the 4 buttons on the edit screen.

Try downloading Chrome and give it a try. I find it is much faster and safer. I would like to see if it works with that? Let me know please. Thanks

Google's chrome browser is a very good option if you are able to install a new web browser. I've tested in IE 8 and can't reproduce the image problem which makes me think it might be specific to your IE8 installation. It is possible to have images turned off, but that would affect all images, not just certain ones. If you are able to give chrome a try, I would suggest that, otherwise let me know the specifc version of IE you're using. In my case I''m using version 8.0.7600.16385 . You'll find that number in the help dropdown under "About Internet Explorer".

Having tried Chrome before and not liked it, I'll pass on that option.

I'm also using IE8.0.7600.16385, so I guess it's not that.

Whatever it was happened when the system maintenance was done...I was in the middle of posting something and when I hit the button to post it, I get the system maintenance message. This is also the only site that I have a problem with, so...I don't know.

Well, I just figured out a "fix" I guess. I was using the "After Dark" forum skin. I just changed back to default and all of the images have reappeared. I'm going blind with the brightness of the screen, but at least all of the images work now.

So, I don't know if there's some sort of setting that can be changed to make that skin work again...if there is, I would greatly appreciate it!
