Does anyone know if the P99 magazines are compatable with the PPQ. If it os a whole new magazine I'm not even considering one. On yhe other hand if the same magazine is used then that makes it more palatable.

Do the PPQ mags have that notch on the back of the feed lip on the left side to make room for the ejector? I remember hearing a while back when people were using aftermarket mags in their P99 that did not have that cutout, and were breaking the ejectors off of their P99 pistols while inserting a mag.

I'm curious why Walther stated that the 15rd mags are not interchangeable, but the 17rd mags are?

See posting #163 by uncut:
The mags of the PPQ will work in the P99 but not the other way around... the PPQ mag is slightly shorter on the front section... so if you use a P99 mag in the PPQ it might damage the feed ramp on the barrel
Apparently Walther shortened the length of the front section a while ago, thus the magazine tubes of PPQ pistols are marked P99 and I guess it will take a while untill the tubes will come w/o any marking at all.
So, if anyone is into collecting magazines: Maybe this is the time to get P99/PPQ clones.

I picked up a PPQ yesterday and have owned P99s for some time now, and aside from an orange follower and the floorplate on the PPQ mag saying PPQ I cant see any difference. The P99 mag fits the PPQ and locks back the slide. Both the P99 and PPQ appear to have the same relief cut for the ejector. I havent fired it yet though so the proof would be in the firing. The mag body even says P99 on the PPQ mags.

Uncut,

I don't mean this question to seem antagonistic, as I have seen your are highly regarded on this forum, and I am very new, so, here goes. Are you saying that because they have different model numbers that they will not function flawlessly? I have inspected my PPQ mags side by side with my P99 mags and the only three differences I see are cosmetic. Red follower vs Black follower, dull coating vs shiny coating, and the bottom plates say PPQ vs P99.

Aside from that, the mags are identical. The PPQ mags even say P99 on the side of them.

My suggestion for everyone with a bunch of P99 mags like myself wanting to use them in your PPQ, is to do some serious detailed inspection on all of your P99 mags compared to your PPQ mags before running any of them in your PPQ.

The early mags I got with my 2001 P99 have significant differences with both the P99 WAF65004(late model P99 mags) and the PPQ mags. Other than the cosmetic differences that spcrobbins mentioned above, the later WAF65004 P99 mags are identical to my PPQ mags and have worked flawlessly in my PPQ. I would not attempt to run the early P99 mags in my PPQ.

It came from the horses mouth
the front portion of the P99 mag is longer than the PPQ mags and can hit the bottom of the feed lip damaging it
also see extremists post for the same observation

Yep, that's what I'm sayin' :p

Thanks for taking the pictures, I never got around to it.

OK, so I was looking into this magazine interchangeability issue and after reading the posts by the guys saying the P99 mags are taller in front than the PPQ mags and could bump the feed ramp in the PPQ are exactly correct. The only question about this that I have is this: If it is a problem in the PPQ, then why is it not a problem in the P99, because my mags in the P99 hit that same spot in relationship to the feed ramp as they do in the PPQ. I am truly asking for advice on this especially from Uncut, who seems to have some good info on this.

Received my mags from CDNN. They are identical to the factory PPQ mags, except the mag body is blued. I disassembled/reassembled and compared all components to the PPQ mags. No difference in quality, and tolerances appear to be identical. Great buy at $35 each.

I had intended on these to be purely range mags, but if they function just as reliably as the PPQ mags, I would not hesitate to use for ccw.

I bought some of these also and I agree with the above. Plus I have had them to the range and they work perfectly in my PPQ. The most importand part to me was that the front lip was the same height as the PPQ mags so no chance of banging into the feed ramp.
