As many of you know, we've had a number of posts asking for help with placing a manufacturing date on one of the Interarms/Ranger pistols. The posts are always frustrating because, unlike when requests come in for information on the Walther and Manurhin pistols, we can't be of much help.
To the best of our knowledge, Interarms never released a listing of serials numbers/dates that corresponded to the firm's production; as a result, the best that owners who want to place a date on their guns can do is to see if the test target that's sometimes included with the gun has a date marked on it.
In the interest of trying to help out with the date process for the Interarms pistols, let's use this Sticky as a place to post a serial number and the date on its test target; if the list grows, it would help provide a general idea about when a specific gun was made.
Here are two to kick off the list:
Interarms PPK/S Serial Number: 031790 Test Target Date: 1/28/83
Interarms PPK/S Serial Number: 035118 Test Target Date: 1/28/83
Please check your Interarms-made Walthers and chime in if you can help. Thanks in advance.
A couple of other notes here:
1. Dates also can sometimes be determined by having the original bill of sale. It's also important to keep in mind that the gun could have sat on the shelf for a year or three before being sold.
2. As MGMike has said previously: Extrapolation to arrive at annual figures is dangerous. It presumes steady production, which is seldom true.

My PPK/S Stainless 0505XX serial number and was test fired by the same person one month and five days after yours. These serial numbers have no rhyme or reason!

My PPK/S Stainless S0505XX was tested by the same person one month and 5 days later. This difference in serial numbers in such a short period of time makes me wonder about the accuracy of dates concerning the year in which they may have been manufactured. Frustrating! Also, my case is made of the same material but is a silver color.
We're always happy to have another person join us here. That post you replied to is 3+ years old and the person never came back. There are tons of folks that are fans of the PP series here though.
Just purchased a PPK/S and trying to find more info on the gun. Am including pictures to help identify it. Would appreciate any help in knowing more about the gun. Very little use, looks like brand new. What does premium stamp mean?
I would move it to the PP/TPP thread. Initially I will tell you that it is West German made from 1974. There are other markings from the second which I cannot elaborate on. The pistol also appears to have been refinished, but I will request more photos in better light.
Interarms PPK 380 Stainless
SN: A064711
Target date: 12/8/92
Case date: 7/92
Bill of sale date: 3/19/93
In viewing the data table dated 1 July 2015 for this model, it falls between SN A062853 dated 9/21/92 and SN A06576 dated 2/2/93. Seems to fit the pattern well.
If you have the original box, look inside the cover, in the upper left corner. Month and year are stamped there. My stainless PPK has the serial number A065049, and was made in November 1992.
This is an Interarm (IA) versio0n...looks like a newer make...to me?
Several real experts moderate this site, and they will be able to direct you if you cannot find it already posted
Looks like a fine PPK/S
Enjoy!
