P1 Holster Question
I'm specifically referencing the newer canvas Flecktar-pattern holsters. I think they're not only very well-made and nicely-lined inside but are just flat-out beautiful overall. When you look on the back at the pistol-belt interface, it's probably not a coincidence that there's exactly a 2?-inch space for a standard-issue pistol-belt. My question is this: How the heck are you supposed to attach it when the little plastic extension on the bottom only reaches up far enough to cover the bottom two plastic studs, when what's needed is something to reach all the way up around the top so as to securely fasten it around the belt? The only other thing I can figure out is that they were originally issued with another piece of hardware that secures the belt in place or else maybe the plastic studs interface with the German belts in a way that would never work on the common, standard-issue U.S. belts. In any case, since I've already wasted a considerable amount of time searching for answers, all to no avail, I'm trying this as a last-resort in the hope that somebody will know what I'm talking about. Thanks!

I would also like to know. I received a holster like yours with a P1 I bought. Cannot figure out how to hook to a belt.
Anyone know? |

P1 Holster Information (With Helpful Links)
Good luck on getting your question answered.... I posted mine awhile ago and so far nobody's bothered to answer. Fortunately, I didn't only post my question in one location. Here's a link to another forum that may help shed some light on the situation.
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=4187805 As of yet, I'm still unable to find a source for the adapter referenced above; I attempted on several occasions to contact that company he referred me to, all to no avail, and the only other way I know of to obtain them is from overseas but you'll spend a fortune on taxes and shipping, so forget about it. I just got fed-up and created my own rig using an ALICE clip and two large paper-clips to secure the unit. Really, I only keep the gun in the German holster when it's not in use, for storage; otherwise I'd just as soon put it in one of my M12 holsters which connects perfectly to a 2?" pistol belt and have done with it already. Here are sources for each: M12 Holsters: http://www.omahas.com/catalog/produc...oducts_id=1488 Belt: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/c...?p=WX2&i=49732 Cheap mag-pouches (they fit really nice on the belt too, extra-large flap on back to accomodate practically any width belt): http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/c...?p=WX2&i=55874 (Just do a search for "mag pouch" on there; it'll turn up a bunch of results, maybe something you'd prefer over this; I just gave this to you as an example of what they have if you're not already familiar with the company.) --------------------------------------- Also, if you want any extra brand-new (mint condition) Flektar holsters, I mean really nice unissued (and I'm not sure why you would at this point other than to put your gun in a nicer, cleaner holster than the one that came with it, strictly for storage purposes), here 'tis: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=354343 --------------------------------------- One really has to wonder WTF these idiots are thinking who sell these holsters without any means of attaching them to a standard belt. Things like this never cease to amaze me, though I'm holding out hope against all odds that, sooner or later, SG or somebody else will suddenly begin featuring them, so I'm trying to remain patient and just wait and see, because that's the way it usually happens. You pay a fortune for some hard-to-find item, only to have the expenditure undermined six months later when they become widely available for a fraction of what you originally paid for it. |

I think what you need is called an Alice adapter.
Google that and you'll find them on e-bay. I'm only familar with photos of that holster and do not own one. |

I have the same P! with a canvas Flecktar-pattern holster. What you need is the Bundeswehr ALICE Adapter. You can get it from Hessen Antique. http://www.hessenantique.com
I know this is an old thread, but it comes up on Google when searching on this particular issue. Hope this helps anyone who's been scratching their head trying to figure this out. |

I can't believe I just checked here for the first time in forever, and apparently you only posted your message a few days ago... what timing! After having already long since given up ever finding those damn adapters, I promptly ordered four.
Again, thank you very much!

Cheaper Than Dirt sells a Grade 2 duak HK 91 Magazine pouch in matching flecktarn for the princely sum of $4.97.
I got several last year and while some were in excellent condition, some had certainly been rode hard and stabled wet. Still serviceable though HOWEVER!... Each and every one came with a brand spanking new, never been opened, ALICE/PALS adapter. ![]() I gave away a couple of the pouches to friends that have the German belts/harnesses and kept the adapters for myself. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ItemD...px?sku=MGR-275 The way I see it, I'm paying $4.97 for a brand new adapter and getting a used pouch for free. I actually rather like the German attachment system. While it's not quite as versatile as MOLLE/PALS it's a heck of a lot more solid than ALICE. And 20 years ago it was really ahead of it's time. |

And yes UNCUT, those holsters will work GREAT on the rig you referenced. That what they were designed for.
![]() I have several friends who have these German rigs and they really like them. Everything stays exactly where you put it with very little bouncing around. For those who prefer a simple belt and suspenders load bearing rig they're hard to beat as long as the rest of your gear has the right attachments. But since the main belt is 3 inches wide you cannot use ALICE clips but you CAN easily attach any 5 row PALS pouches to it. |
