Clicking Sound on new P1

Hello all. I am a new member here and an owner of a P1. I just bought my P1 yesterday at Sportsman Warehouse in Salem, Oregon (great shop and staff, BTW).

I noticed there is a clicking sound when I'm moving the gun. Gentle shaking definitely reproduces the sound. When I retracted the slide, there is a tiny movable "pin" on the left side of the firing pin region that's causing the sound.

I called Sportsman and they did reproduce the same clicking noise in their display model. I guess it did make me feel better but is this normal?

Thank you.

Best,
Ron

Here are photos. Sorry, not the best quality. It has the Hex pin and fatter slide.

addendum: sorry the system won't upload my internet-sized pics.

I believe what you are hearing is the hammer lowering lever, which, when the hammer is at rest, or in the decocked position, is loose and will rattle if the pistol is shaken.

And yes, this is normal. If it bothers you, don't shake the pistol

Ron: Glad to hear of your new acquisition. You might want to try the photos again; this should help:

Tips for shooting, and posting, great photos

Wartime models have a "click" sound when moved. It is caused by the ejector that moves freely. Postwar versions have a spring on it to keep it in place. Maybe the spring is off?

That I don't know. I am new to these guns. I called the shop I bought the gun from and the display model did the same thing. Plus AoxoMoxoA's post...I hope this is normal.

Here are pics (3rd one with my Ruger LC9) . I went to the dealer to confirm and their display model has that same clicking sound. Time to load!
