P1 trigger pull

The double action trigger pull on my new P1 is very stiff. My trigger pull scale maxes at 10 lbs, and at 10 lbs it hasn't even budged the hammer. If I had to take a rough guess, I'd say the pull is in the 15-17 lb area. Being totally unfamiliar with P1s before this, is this normal for a P1?

My P38's D/A trigger pull is pretty friggin' hefty - it's got to be more than 10-lbs - but it's a non-issue for me, since at the range I manually cock the hammer prior to firing the first shot. The ones I've handled all exhibit the same heavy D/A pull, so my guess is that it's the norm.
