Minty AC44 P.38 WWII new acquisition

This is a wartime AC44 (Walther 1944 production)
P38 vet bringback that I picked up recently.
Minty for a 70 year old pistol.
98% finish overall, even the frontstrap is not too worn.
Appears to have been shot little. Action nice & crisp.

That's a great score; nice job. Did it come with the capture papers, by chance? That would certainly add some value to the overall purchase, to say nothing of the background that it would provide you with.

That looks to be in great shape. Is it going to be a range gun or stay in the safe. I have not been able to stop myself from taking my wartime P38's out for a run at the range. They keep screaming...Shoot me!
again, nice score....~J

I plan to shoot it some, but since it is in such nice condition I'll do my best to keep its range time to a minimum. I have a vet return ac44 with a reblued slide that is less pristine, and a postwar commercial Interarms P1 to play with while letting the nice P38 rest. I bought a spare set of P1 "range grips" for one, and a set of aftermarket grips for the other to preserve the original Bakelite grips.

I bought it from a specialist dealer, Checkpoint Charlies and no it did not come with any papers, just gun & mag. He did not know the background of it.

Here come the Germans!

The Luger is a (reasonably well done) reblued DWM 9mm WWI military pistol with reproduction walnut grips. Pic below. Date stamped 1917, with stock lug. Top end and bottom end are two different serial numbers. It looks good and shoots well.

Photohause: Nope, no papers, except the sales receipt!

The Interarms P1 is the youth of the bunch at 42! The Luger is a great grandpa, 95 years old. I hope I look that good at 95. I hope I'm still AROUND at 95 and not taking the long dirt nap!
