P38 Safety Problem

Sponsored Links
I have a WW2 era P38. I noticed that I need to pull the hammer back from the full cock position in order to engage the safety. When engaged the safety drops the hammer as it should. I figure one or another part is no longer doing its job. What do I need to repair/replace? Thanks

Give Tom Heller a call, or send him an email:

Gun Parts Sales & Repairs
Tom Heller (Luger Doc)
P O Box 398
St Charles MO 63302
Tel 636-447-3006
Email- hellerarms@webtv.net

He'll not only be able to diagnose your exact problem, but he's likely to have the part on hand as well.

Good luck.

Tom just repaired my byf 44 with the same problem, replaced hammer and hammer lowering lever. Great guy, great work.

No question that Tom Heller is the real deal, as is Mike at M&M Gunsmithing in Virginia; we are fortunate to have a couple of class acts who know the ins/outs of our firearms. Not every gunsmith does, including -- sadly -- some of the ones who work in Houlten.
